KOH Software is a UK software company based in St Albans, Hertfordshire. We build and run our own software products, and we design and engineer high-end bespoke systems for businesses whose problems don't fit anything off the shelf. Same team, same engineering standards — two ways to get there.
Every business runs on software now. The question is whether the software runs the way the business does — or whether the business has quietly bent itself around the limitations of whatever it bought.
Plenty of companies fit standard tools well, and for them a ready-made product is exactly the right answer: faster to adopt, cheaper to run, proven in the field. We build products for precisely that reason — including Maniflo, our operations platform for product businesses, covering ordering, inventory, warehousing and delivery.
But the most interesting businesses — the ones that win their markets — usually work in a way generic products can't express: a pricing model nobody else uses, an operational flow honed over twenty years, a service promise their competitors can't match. Forcing that into an off-the-shelf mould blunts the very thing that makes the business good.
That's where our bespoke work comes in. We build software around the business, not the business around the software. Complete systems designed from first principles: data models that reflect how the company actually operates, workflows that match how decisions really get made, and interfaces the people doing the job can use without a manual.
Product or bespoke isn't an ideology for us — it's a diagnosis. We'll tell you honestly which one fits, even when the answer is the cheaper one. What doesn't change is the engineering: everything we ship is built to the same standard, because we're the ones supporting it for years afterwards.
Start with what the problem needs. Sometimes that's a product you can be live on in weeks; sometimes it's a system nobody has built yet. Often it's a product as the foundation, extended with custom work where your business genuinely differs.
Proven platforms we build, host and support ourselves — the fast, dependable route when your needs map well onto an established model.
Our flagship is Maniflo, a modern operations platform for product businesses: sales and purchasing, inventory and warehouse management, despatch and delivery, finance integration and reporting — with mobile tools for the warehouse floor and the road.
When standard offerings aren't the right thing for your business, we go as far as the problem demands — full systems designed and engineered around your exact operation.
This is high-end, first-principles work: we model your domain properly, design the workflows around how the work actually happens, and build software that feels like it was always meant to exist — because it was designed for you.
Across both products and bespoke engagements, the same territory: serious software for the operational heart of a business.
Complete systems that run the core of a company — quoting, ordering, fulfilment, billing — replacing the patchwork of disconnected tools and spreadsheets that grew up around the old way.
Software for businesses with real-world moving parts: inventory, logistics, scheduling, field operations, manufacturing flows — where correctness, speed and auditability genuinely matter.
Modern web applications and native-quality mobile apps for iOS and Android — including offline-capable tools with barcode scanning, photo capture and proof-of-delivery for workforces that don't sit at desks.
Making systems talk to each other properly: accounting, payments, couriers, e-commerce channels, hardware and legacy software unified behind clean, well-designed, documented APIs.
Live operational intelligence from your system of record — dashboards, KPIs, margin and valuation analysis — numbers you can act on, not last week's export massaged in a spreadsheet.
Workflow automation for repetitive back-office work, and pragmatic, production-grade AI where it genuinely earns its keep — document handling, triage, classification and assisted data entry.
High-end doesn't mean precious. It means understanding the problem deeply, recommending honestly, engineering properly and supporting what we ship for the long run.
We start with the business, not the technology — how the work actually flows, where it actually breaks, and what better would genuinely be worth. No proposals until we understand the operation.
Product, bespoke, or a blend of the two — we diagnose rather than upsell. If a ready-made system (ours or anyone's) is the right answer, we'll say so and help you adopt it well.
Where custom work is warranted, data models, workflows and interfaces are designed around your operation — minimal clicks, sensible defaults, screens that make sense at 7am on a Monday.
Modern, proven technology; rigorous automated testing; clean architecture; proper version control and review. Built to be extended for years, not patched for months.
Working software in real hands quickly, then refined against reality. Short feedback loops with the people who actually use the system, not just the people who bought it.
Operational systems are long-term commitments. We host, monitor, maintain and evolve what we build — in production, where it counts — with UK-based support from the engineers themselves.
We're technology-agnostic by principle and opinionated by experience: the stack serves the problem, never the other way round.
These are areas, deliberately, rather than a list of named frameworks. We work across the modern landscape — and with plenty of the not-so-modern one, because real businesses run on both. If a language, platform or system matters to your business and it isn't named here, that's a limitation of the page, not of what we do: ask us.
No — and most engagements end up somewhere in between. A common pattern is adopting one of our products as the foundation and extending it with custom modules where your business genuinely differs from the standard model. You get the speed and economy of a product where you're typical, and tailored software where you're not.
Maniflo is our operations platform for product businesses — ordering, purchasing, inventory, warehouse management, despatch, delivery and reporting, with mobile tools for warehouse and driver teams. It's built, hosted and supported by KOH Software in the UK. If your business buys, stores, moves or sells physical products, it's worth a conversation.
Yes. A large share of our work starts with something already in place — a legacy system that's run out of road, an off-the-shelf product the business has outgrown, or a critical spreadsheet that's become load-bearing. We handle analysis, data migration and a managed cutover, keeping the business running throughout.
With a conversation, then a short discovery exercise: we look at how your operation actually works, where the pain genuinely is, and what the options are — including honest advice on whether bespoke development is justified. You come out of discovery with a clear recommendation and a costed plan, whichever route it points to.
For bespoke builds, the arrangements are agreed clearly up front and documented in plain English — including source code access and what happens if you ever want to take development in-house or elsewhere. No lock-in by obscurity: everything we build is documented and supportable.
We're based in St Albans, Hertfordshire, and work with businesses across the UK. Most collaboration is remote with regular on-site time where it adds value — particularly during discovery, where seeing the operation first-hand is irreplaceable.
Whether it's a product that fits or a problem nothing on the market can solve, we'd like to hear about your operation.
